The project leader’s checklist

We have been researching what it takes to deliver projects for over 20 years.  The insights we have gained have been captured in a project leader’s checklist that we use to measure and benchmark project performance.  We have designed the checklist with 11 basic questions, and we answer each question with a score from 1 to 10 – this creates a graphical representation of your project’s current performance.

The checklist provides a reminder of what we have learnt about leading projects.  These 11 leadership actions provide a foundation for successful project delivery.  Project leaders stand on these foundations to make judgements and take action when faced with uncertainties during the project lifecycle.

The graphic can be used to illustrate project performance at any point in the lifecycle, and to measure performance over time  It will even compare performance between different projects across your portfolio.  The tool points to key areas of good performance and opportunities for improvement.  When we use it at an organisational level, it can identify areas of structural weakness that may be impacting performance across a whole portfolio.

Now you can use that same checklist on your own projects.  Just follow the link at the bottom of this page to see how your project is performing.

If you would like to go further, and gain an expert view of your project’s current performance, drop us a line and we will send you a personalised report that interprets your findings.  You’ll find a link when you complete the checklist questions.
